Disk, Tape or Cloud? Finding the Best Way to Ensure Robust Data Protection and Fast Data Recovery Regardless of the Platform Type
Backup systems market currently shows sustainable growth. According to IDC analytical company, equipment sales increased by 4.1% exceeding USD 1 billion in Q4 2015. Experts from ICL—KMECS and Veritas Technologies Corporation unveiled solutions that are most in demand among users.
ICL—KMECS together with Veritas Technologies Corporation and MONT held a joint workshop devoted to data backup and recovery issues in the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
Experts from MONT and Veritas Technologies Corporation, a recently founded new company that had previously been a part of Symantec, presented a state-of-the-art approach to data backup and recovery — Backup Exec, a backup and recovery solution designed for the entire infrastructure regardless of platform: virtual, physical or cloud.
Within the framework of the workshop, the attendees also learned about Netbackup, backup and recovery software suite that integrates miscellaneous data protection products, both physical and virtual, including tape and virtual libraries, into a converged backup platform. According to Symantec research, corporate customers have saved, on average, about 45% of Netbackup server purchase and deployment costs and 39% of current operating expenses and management costs in the first year since deployment.
“According to analysts, the price of data storage is falling whereas the demand for data storage capacity is growing,” says Ivan Shvydchenko, Lead Technical Expert, MONT Russia. “Due to the increasing amounts of data, flexible data dedupe technology integrated in Backup Exec becomes particularly important and useful today. This ‘smart technology’ enables Backup Exec to minimize backup windows, reduce network traffic and disk space needed to store backup data and thus eliminates the need to buy additional solutions.”
