ICL and Rittal Unveil Shared Experience in Building Data Center at BIT’ 2016

Republic of Tatarstan and neighbouring regions. ICL and Rittal supported the event
featuring as Forum partners and unveiled their shared experience in building data
center by showcasing a project implemented for Milkom OJSC.
This year, the capital of Tatarstan is again among the cities included in the annual tour
arranged by CIS Events Group and held across Russia and the CIS. In Kazan,
BIT’ 2016 International Forum devoted to key trends in ICT market was attended by
over 400 people.
ICL and Rittal supported the event as Forum partners and got a chance to demonstrate
their shared best practices in building and upgrading data centers.
Oleg Sorokin, Data Center expert at ICL, showcased data center implementation project
developed with the help of Rittal technologies, which was deployed for Milkom OJSC,
the largest milk processing company in the Udmurt Republic. In particular, the watercooled
air conditioning system used for the data center is based on Rittal liquid cooling
packages.
«Water-cooled air conditioning systems boast integrated FreeCooling technology,» said
Oleg Sorokin. «When used in our climate, FreeCooling makes it possible to reduce the
power required for operation of even a small data center from the average 40-60% to
10-20% of the total power consumption for several month a year. In case of data center
deployed for Milkom OJSC, starting from mid-October, the amount of power consumed
by air conditioning system does not exceed 10% of its total cooling capacity. Another
important benefit offered by these water-cooled air conditioning systems is the option to
use cold water storage tank that ensures system operation during power outage and
makes it possible to cut costs on uninterruptible power supply solution for the data
center.»
